Frequently Asked Questions

Which session is right for me or my child?

We offer a range of sessions designed for different ages and stages. Acorn Asanas is designed for children aged 3–5, Oak and Acorn brings parents and children together through shared yoga and mindful activities, Acorn Adventures is created especially for home educated children, and Wise Oaks offers a mindful yoga experience for adults.

If you're unsure which session would be the best fit, please get in touch. We're always happy to help you find the right experience for you or your child.

Do I need any previous yoga experience?

Not at all. Our sessions are suitable for beginners and no previous yoga experience is required.

We encourage everyone to participate at their own level, with options to make movements easier or more challenging depending on individual ability and confidence.

What happens in a typical session?

Every session is a little different, but yoga is always the focus. Depending on the class, sessions may include movement, breathing exercises, stories, games, mindfulness, relaxation and nature-based activities.

We use stories and the natural world to make yoga engaging and meaningful, helping participants explore movement, build confidence and enjoy time away from the everyday.

What should I wear to a session and what should I bring?

For outdoor sessions, comfortable and weather appropriate clothing is essential. We recommend layers, waterproofs and appropriate footwear, particularly for woodland sessions.

Please bring a drink and anything specifically requested for your session. A yoga mat may be useful for some sessions, although we'll let you know in advance whether you need to bring one.

Are the sessions suitable for children with additional needs?

We aim to make our sessions as welcoming and inclusive as possible. We recognise that every child is different, and we are happy to discuss individual needs, preferences or concerns before a session.

If your child has additional support needs, please contact us before booking so that we can talk through the session and consider whether any reasonable adjustments can be made to help them feel comfortable and included.

How do I find the session location?

Your booking confirmation email will include a What3Words location to help you find us. Simply enter the three word address into the What3Words app or website to see the exact meeting point.

Please check your confirmation email before setting off and allow yourself plenty of time to arrive, particularly if it's your first visit.

If you're having trouble finding us, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

What if my child doesn't want to join in?

That's absolutely okay. We understand that children may need time to settle into a new environment, particularly when meeting new people or trying something unfamiliar.

We never expect children to participate before they're ready. They can watch, take a break, explore their surroundings or join in when they feel comfortable. Our aim is to create a relaxed environment where children can grow at their own pace.

Do you ever cancel sessions due to the weather?

We embrace the changing seasons and believe there's something special about experiencing nature in different weather. However, safety and comfort always come first.

If weather conditions make an outdoor session unsuitable, we will make alternative arrangements or contact you with any changes. Please check your session information before setting off, particularly during periods of unsettled weather.

Can my child attend without me?

For Acorn Asanas and Oak and Acorn, a parent, carer or accompanying adult stays and takes part alongside the child.

Acorn Adventures offers an optional drop-off arrangement for home educated children, subject to age, suitability and the arrangements for the individual session.

If you're unsure whether your child is ready to attend independently, please get in touch and we'd be happy to discuss it with you
